Marketing of products in industries is very much essential to increase sale and consequently to gain the profit, however marketing of library and information products and services approach aims at determining the needs, wants and demands of the target users through designing and delivering appropriate products and services more effectively for the purpose of achieving organizational goals and objectives to aware the library services.
This paper was carried out to conceptualize the advertising strategies used in marketing information products and services in Egyptian Knowledge Bank (EKB) as the largest knowledge bank and data center in the world.
The concept of advertising strategies, reasons for marketing of library services, effective advertising strategies for marketing, as well as marketing mix in the libraries, and good study for target users are thoroughly highlighted. The study found that there is a growing need for understanding and employing marketing culture in the context of libraries and information services throughout the world which are yet to utilize advertising as a tool for service promotion.
The EKB officials should understand the nature of information, needs of users, to make the data center and information services most effective.
