استحوذت الأهرام على حيز کبير من اهتمام نفر غير قليل من الرحالة والجغرافيين والمؤرخين المسلمين ، وذلک على مر أزمنة وعصور التاريخ الإسلامي،وقسمت الدراسة إلى موضوعين أساسيين : أولا : الأهرام في نطاق مصر القديمة . انصب الأهتمام بشکل أساسي على أهرامات الجيزة الثلاث، لاسيما الهرم الأکبر، أما حديثهم عن باقي الأهرام فلم يرق عن مجرد إشارات عامة ، تعرضت لما کانت عليه من کثرة العدد فضلا عن هيئتها ومادة بناءها أما إذا انتقلنا لأهرامات الجيزة الثلاثة ، فسنعرض لما ذکره الرحالة والجغرافيون والمؤرخون المسلمين عن الأهرام، وعلى الرغم من أن الأسطورة أتت کما هو واضح على الحقيقة التاريخية فحرفتها عن مواضعها ، فإننا لو حاولنا قراءة بعض المفردات خارج سياق الأسطورة ، سنجدها ترشد عن بعض الخصائص التي تستند إلى أصل في تاريخ مصر القديمة، کـ” الطلمسات ”، و” الکهنة ” , و” العقاقير ”، و” الحکمة ” ، و” التوابيت ”.
وسو ف نرصد أحوال الأهرام منذ بداية نزول الصحابة ببن الجيزة أثناء عملية الفتح الإسلامى لمصر ، وکان من بين الصحابة: الزبير بن العوام ، وأمه السيدة صفية ، وسعد بن أبي وقاص ، وخارجة بن حذافة السهمي، والمقداد بن الأسود ، وأبو رافع مولى الرسول .ثم محاولة الخليفة العباسى المأمون نقب الهرم الأکبر .وننتقل بعد ذلک إلى العصر الطولونى حيث شغف أحمد بن طولون مؤسس الدولة الطولونية بمعرفة أسرار الأهرام
