The current paper attempted to investigate the translator's visibility in English-Arabic translation. It utilized a self-constructed corpus compiled from the English novel 1984 by George Orwell (1949) and was translated by Alhareth Alnabhan with a total number of more than 12000 word from both texts. It aimed at exploring the potential means through which the translator's visibility was manifested along with the associated linguistic consequences on the target text. It was also proposed to suggest an alternative translation for each processed example under investigation. The study concluded that the translator's visibility was glaringly observed throughout the data investigated. Different channels were identified as the major causes; namely, literal, word-for-word, and direct manifestations of translation. The impact of the translator’s visibility extended from the lexical level to semantic, stylistic, structural and syntactic levels. The study also revealed that although the apparent presence of the translator can act as a reminder of the source text, it disturbs the fluency of the target text and compromises the accuracy of the translation.
